The Scout
by Loxly
One night while doing some cleaning around his
modest home, Loxly received a knock at the door.
A young man stood on the stoop holding a message “Rich and
Alarcon need you to come to the GTH tower as soon as possible and
come equipped to go on a long trip.”
Loxly thanked the young man, closed the door and packed what
he needed for the trip. Summoning
his ghost steed, he mounted it in one smooth motion, spoke the words,
“Kal Ort Por,” and was quickly transported to the GTH tower. With
one snap of his fingers, the ghost steed, retreated back into his
pack waiting to be summoned at a later time.
Loxly walked up the front steps of the tower,
pulled open the iron door, and walked through the dank, cold, halls.
He wound his way up the staircase to the roof where he found
Rich and Alarcon assembled with other members of GTH. “Hail all,”
Loxly said with a smile in greeting to his GTH family.
A chorus of warm greetings came back from the group as he
joined them. “Glad you made
it so fast Lox” Rich said. “I
do my best,” Loxly replied. “We
need you to go to Felucca and do some fact finding,” Alarcon said.
“Other than the only inhabitants being thieves and murders
what do you need to know?” Loxly laughed. Smiling Alarcon said,
“Well, we need to know what’s going on there that makes people avoid
venturing there.” “When do
I leave?” Loxly asked. “As soon as you are ready,” Alarcon said.
“Then I will take my leave of you now,” Loxly said, “and
I wish all of you safe journeys as well.” He then summoned his ghost
steed, uttered the words “Kal Ort Por,” and waved as he disappeared
in a flash.
A few seconds later, Loxly appeared in Serpents
Hold. “I haven’t been here
in a while,” he thought to himself as he began to tour the island.
He found no real changes on the island, it brought back fond memories
of his youth. He traveled down by the docks and spied a hole in
the cliff. Curious, he ventured
in and found evil mages and other monsters living there next to
the entrance to the island that he loved so well. After killing
several mages, lava lizards, hell hounds and giant serpents, he
made his way over to the lost lands. Riding across the land he observed
that very little had changed. Next
he traveled to Delucia. The
town was unremarkable all he saw were several miners and tailors
going about their crafts. Then he rode through the passage, which
is usually guarded by murders and scoundrels, trying to steal the
minors hard earned wares. This
time though there was not a soul around.
Loxly rode to every major city and found them all but deserted.
After the cities he moved on to the dungeons. There he found the
regular array of creatures and monsters but he had an overwhelming
and ominous sense of foreboding and doom.
His training as a mage made him very sensitive
to unseen forces around him. He
had sensed things like this before in his youth, but he had never
encountered an evil as strong as this. He felt a dark force behind
these feelings, he could almost visualize a group of people trying
to summon the forces of evil to the land. After surveying the last
of the dungeon he thought to himself, “It’s time to go make my report.”
Once again he muttered the words “Kal Ort Por,” and he was back
at the GTH tower.
After riding up to the steps of the GTH tower
Loxly once again made his way through the tower to the roof. “Greetings all,” Loxly said and once again he was greeted by a sequential
chorus of “Hails” and “Welcomes.”
Anxious to know what he had found, Rich and Alarcon approached
and asked almost simultaneously for his report.
“In the main lands all was normal, well as normal as it can
be, but the dungeons had a strange air about them a very foreboding
aura, wrought with evil.” Loxly said frowning. “ Dungeons are supposed
to be evil !! ” Someone replied. “This is different,” Loxly replied,
“It is an evil such as I have never felt before, it is as though
some one is trying to crack the world and let the evil horde encompass
all of Felucca.” “What do
you think would be a good course of action?” asked Rich and Alarcon
simultaneously for the second time. “Well, we will need a lot of
people, I mean far more than just GTH to go and clear the dungeons,
and we need to do it fast or it may be to late.” Loxly replied in
a serious tone. “The more we have the faster and easier it will
be but it will still be no small task.”
Rich and Alarcon thanked Loxly for his time and information, as
he inquired if there was anything else they needed from him.
They told him that there was not at this time.
“If you need me, you know where I am” he said smiling as
he summoned his ghost mount, waved and muttered “Kal Ort Por,”
returning home for a well deserved rest and to reflect on
his recent travels.

Evil Prepares
by Kahn
The small creatures of the dungeon scurried back into the shadows
as the mage entered with his torch. Hidden against the rock wall
Kahn watched the mage as he leveled a few spells against the evil
mages and other inhabitant's of the dungeon. His cold, ice blue,
eye's peered from beneath his shroud. He debated whether or not
he should strike the man down or let him ride on.
However, the next move the mage made saved his life. Instead of
riding on he stopped, took out a small book and began jotting something
inside, Kahn watched from with interest and decided to follow him.
The mage made his exit into the lost lands, stopping from time to
time to take notes in his book and then moving on. Kahn kept a safe
distance but always remained close enough to keep an eye on him.
The mage made his way into Delucia and Kahn, not wanting to blow
his cover, thought it best not to tangle with the guards and remained
hidden, watching the mage to see if he stayed in town or traveled
on.
No more then an hour later he again picked up the mages trail and
followed him into the passage, knowing full well that the fool would
meet his end once inside, but fate was with the mage....Not a soul
lingered.
Kahn followed the mage throughout the night, hiding near towns
and then following him once again when he moved on. Once Kahn was
sure that the mage posed no threat, he got closer to him, not too
close, but close enough to read the guild insignia inscribed on
the mages spell book and a name....He wanted to see what the mage
was writing in his book but thought better of it.
Dawn was almost upon the land when the Mage exited the last dungeon
and recalled away. It was only then that Kahn came out of hiding
and then recalled to his guildhouse. He pushed his shroud back as
he entered and bowed low to his guildmaster.
"I came across something last eve you might be concerned with"
he said with a small fire burning in his eye's
His guildmaster took note of that fire and knew that Kahn was always
eager to learn new thing's. "Oh? Tell me,what did you see?"
"While scouting I came across a Mage, he wore a GTH insignia, his
name was Loxly. He was taking note's and riding from town to town.....As
well as dungeons"
Kali smiled at her young guild member, his thirst to know everything
would be the death of him one day. "That isn't so odd.....There
is always a scholar traveling Felucca from time to time taking a
peek at our dungeons."
Kahn nodded "Aye, but I have never seen one intent on the champion
's nor have I have noted one writing down his finding's."
Kali's eyebrow's raised at hearing this. "He was jotting down the
champion areas?"
"Aye, it is my belief that he was taking note's of the creatures
and the layout of the dungeons...What could it mean? Do you think
they are planning something?" He ask, his eye's again glowing with
the thought of a fight.
"Perhaps they are...We will keep this to ourselves for now though,
No need to let them know that we know what they are up to. You have
done well my young friend....I will speak with the others and those
we trust. If it is a war they want, we shall give it to them!" Kali
said smiling. "You may go now...Get some rest, I may have need of
you to look into this further."
Kahn pulled his shroud over his head and bowed low "As you wish
M'lady.......I will be ready to set out again as soon as you call
on me." He then left her alone to her thoughts..
If what he said was true they might be coming back to try and take
the dungeons they had forsaken. "They abandoned them once and now
they are claimed by us," she thought; "They can't have them back,"
she said out loud with resolve.
